I got such a wonderful lot of presents this year (I always do, we don't have a lot of opportunity to show our love to one another, so by the end of the year it's just an outpouring of gifts and maybe it's not the absolute ideal but it's how it's always been and I couldn't imagine it any other way).

My Brideshead Revisited original television serials collector's edition DVDs!
I fell in love with the story when I saw the 2008 film, and I'm still yet to read the book (I know!). I had a lot of people telling me the serials are wonderful and I've watched a bit of them already and it's true, they are. I think I like both versions in their own way, of course the television version is able to fit a lot more in, and Jeremy Irons plays a very adorable Charles, while Matthew Goode plays one that strikes me as a lot more 'cautious' & less naive. I love both versions of Sebastian, but the television version shows him as much more of a dreamy, kindred spirit, bent on having fun only and fully desiring complete happiness. It's not as strong in the film, but the film is just so, so devastatingly beautiful and haunting in all it's minimalism that I can't help but continue to adore it just as much.

This was a true and delightful surprise to receive! I'd asked for it the year before, but I ended up with other things instead. I was surprised it was even remembered that I liked this one best. It came with Daisy-scented hand cream too. I adore it.

My gift to myself (treat yo' self!). The minute I saw it, I knew I had to have it and waited sort-of-not-very patiently for it to be in the Dangerfield online store. I wore it shopping to the Boxing Day sales today and got many compliments on it. An elderly lady (who apparently knows Colin Firth & his sister) said I was very beautiful :') I've been telling everyone about it, heh. But it really was very sweet!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I'm waiting to watch the Doctor Who Christmas Special on telly and gorge myself on the copious amounts of chocolate I also received as gifts.
